Hi I'm a vegetarian and have found soya products to be amazing for their protein content... But have been reading everywhere not to eat it because it contains estrogen. There is something that really confuses me though. Every bodybuilder you see says to eat lean chicken breast... I assume this cutting of meat comes from a female chicken. So if it takes estrogen to grow breasts... Obviously the female chickens breasts grew because of the animal equivalent hormone of estrogen. So doesn't that mean that chicken breasts have a high quantity of estrogen or the animal equivalent hormone of estrogen? What's the issue with soya protein?
I found this on the Internet:- "Soybeans contain isoflavones, which are chemically similar to estrogens. Soybeans are a complete protein source and a dietary staple in many cultures. Soy contains phytoestrogens called isoflavones that may mimic the activity of the hormone estrogen in your body." http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/eating-soy-increase-estrogen-production-2870.html
