http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2y6xx2qnqg It was a sad day. This guy still influences my playing. Someone embed it..I always screw up the process.
R.i.p. Greatest guitar player I ever saw live. He was amazing, and he had just gotten himself clean and was hitting a real creative peak when that helicopter crash happened. I remember it like it was yesterday. He influenced me taking a trip to Austin with my Wife to hang at Antoines, the local joint where he got started. There is a nice statue of him near the River ther in Austin. Working one of my security gigs back in the day, I actually had the opportunity to meet and converse with his drummer...I think his name is Chris Layton. He said SRV was a truly kind, gentle Soul.
R.i.p. Loved him; cried 22 years ago today when I found out he died in a helicopter crash. This is one of my fave SRV songs. RIP
R.i.p. Not to derail this thread, but the Austin music scene is pretty awesome. There are alot of great musicians there. You can go to Antoines just about anytime, and find some good music, whether it be rock, country, jazz, ect.
R.i.p. Love me some SRV!!!!!!!! First time I ever saw or heard of him was on the TV program Austin City Limits. I was blown away, hardly a day goes by that I don't listen to him. He is my main workout music on my ipod. It is so sad that he was taken when he was really moving forward with his life and music, we will never know the greatness that might have been. I don't know that I could pick one favorite song, just too many that I like. RIP SRV!
