wouldn't a 5x5 set/rep scheme be better than 3x5? you would stall a bit faster, but you would be doing more work / volume and have greater time under tension.
5x5 > 3x5 for mass? 5x5 with a different weight every set or the same weight? I think a good progression would be this 5x5 same weight -> 3x5 same weight -> 5x5 ramping to 1 heavy set
