      I just saw this video in youtube.

      This guy pumps them out like nothing. If I do lots of pullups is his build pretty much what I can aspire to????? Talk about demoralizing.

      hes skinny, which means hes really light, which means pullups arent hard for him

      hes also tall as **** and you cant see his legs, so who knows if hes really doing them

      the key to this is he can pull HIS body weight up 30 times, id imagine you could pull his body weight up 30 times too, so it all depends

      you can be ripped from calisthenics alone, just look up barstarzz, but I imagine it wouldnt be as quick or efficient as weight lifting

      unless, you know, genetics

      The video does not show the legs. That means there is a 96.3% chance that is fake (someone partially supporting his weight below him, someone put a chair, whatever).

      In any case, if you want muscle development, after you can do 10-12 pullups with good form you should move to weighted pullups or some other harder bodyweight variation of pullups.

      There's no reason to be continuously performing such a high repetition range if you're focusing on mass/strength. While variety is key, additional resistance (therefore decreasing the number of repetitions per set) should be the goal for you.

      you can make bodyweight exercises harder by decreasing the leverage.

      for example: compare doing pullups with your legs hanging straight down vs doing pullups while keeping your legs straight and parallel to the ground. and you can also make it harder by performing them on gymnastic rings instead of a bar

      so the answer to your question would be yes

      I can do 14-18 pull ups, I like them because it seems easy to get good form, hang pull myself up without swinging, back down, repeat. Now I'm using a 20 lb. weight vest and can only do 10 pull ups. I would be happy to know that pullups can pack on some serious muscle if I keep adding weight and stay in the 8-12 range. I hope thats the case.

      I'm surprised how gullible you must be to think he's actually doing them. He's laughing and his tempo is off. I would bet $10k that he's not doing them. He has no forearms, no lats, and no back.

      Yes, pull-ups can give you lats. That's how I got my lats. Bent-rows with good form can make you just as sore as pull-ups.
