What are your guys' opinions on deadlifts? I know a lot of people that swear by them, and many that swear against them. I've personally always been more of a back squat kind of guy in order to workout my legs. I've heard many horror stories of people with bad back problems because they did deadlifts and it really tore them up. But many of the good weight lifters that I know do deadlifts. What do you guys think?
I have limited my deadlifts lately, was adding weight every workout and recently have been scared to do super heavy deads. Read alotta horror stories about them as well, I'm not sure right now whether to continue incorporating them into my workout or not.
If you have excellent form they are an amazing exercise. I watched a few form videos on youtube and had the trainers spot me the first few time to make sure i was doing everything right so I wouldn't hurt myself.
Who swears against deadlifts? The deadlift is the best exercise you can do! It is a total body movement, it is functional and it is great for packing on muscle. Deadlifts will strengthen your back. It will only cause problems if you do it with bad form, form is paramount with any exercise, especially deadlifts.
Want to try deadlifts when I'm a little stronger I feel. Tried it last time, which was I while ago and wasn't as strong and as fit as I am today. So hopefully I'll add this exercise to my routine.
Start now, deadlifts will make you stronger. Start with the barbell and practice the form, you need to understand proper form and be able to execute it. You can then gradually add weight to the barbell and build up your strength each week.
