      Gaining weight but not looking big.

      Lowering the weight slowly just allows you to engage asmany muscle fibers as possible before your explosively push up. You need to push the weight explosively to activate your fast twitch fibers as these will grow in size alot faster then your slow twitch. This is true for all bigger, compound lifts. When it comes to isolating you just want constant control and good contractions.
