      Good Morning.
Today i have been asked a question from a twitter follower @emmawilsonn7 that is a common one so i will explain how i went about the process.
Now if you're looking to become a PT i would assume that you are interested in fitness although not necessary it would be a bonus.
The first thing you need to do is find a reputable training provider. As a manager of a gym i can tell you that if you are applying for a job most of the time the applicant with the high standard qualification is more likely to be be selected.

There are many companys online offering quick ways to become qualified. Be wary of these, its your investment for the future so do your research.
Ok so you found a training provider. Some of these let you pay in installments for the training as it can be quite costly. I did my training in a classroom environment on a Monday to Friday basis. I wanted to do it this way as i knew having a tutor in front of you would make it easier to learn.
To become a PT you go through a process as follows.

      Gym Instructor
      Fitness Instructor
      Personal Trainer
      Advanced Personal Trainer

Each of these courses is necessary to progress to the next.
I became an advanced PT and from there went on to do a Nutritionist course and Sports Physio Therapist course.
To become a PT there is alot of study and coursework involved if using a reputable company. It is not easy either.
There are 2 pieces of advice i will give you if you are thinking of doing a PT course.

1 Learn some basic anatomy before you study. It will help alot.
2 Whatever you think you know about fitness now put it to one side and learn from fresh.

I just want to point out that a Fitness Instructor is NOT a Personal Trainer! There are many people out there claiming to be PTs and they are not!
To check ask for there Register of Excersise Professionals registration number. If your PT cannot provide this walk away. You must be registered with them and on there website you can check there qualifications.

I hope this is informative and if anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
      Thank you.

My twitter is @gymtoto if anyone wishes to follow.

      Hi Tom

Great post! Many people make out that they know more than they actually do so interesting to hear how people can check this.

In 15 years of being a Personal Trainer i still get shocked at the things i hear people in the gym tell other people to do. Just because you read it on the internet does not mean its correct!

And some of the Nutritional advice ive seen these none qualified experts give to people is realy quite pathetic.

Its your body your investment. Get qualified registered advice!
      Good luck.
