Anyone here ever attempted to do the 'insanity' workout by Shaun T? They have infomercials on it all the time and my friend has the DVD so he let me borrow it. Well -- needless to say, I know where the name comes from. I was drenched in sweat 5 minutes into the "warmup" and the real workout hadn't even started yet. Honestly I'm a bit afraid to go back to it until I get checked out with a physician that clears that type of workout because if it's that insane right off the bat I don't know how I could possibly do it.

I attempted a bit of it and I couldn't really do it. I don't like how high impact a lot of this workout is, I think it can be really rough of the joints. I think it's better for people who are already pretty fit looking to take it to the next level. I do have some friends who have had some great results from it, but they had a pretty strenuous workout routine before doing the Insanity program.

I haven't done Insanity, I've tried a couple other Beachbody programs though - the most recent one I tried was 21 Day Fix Extreme. I found that to be a pretty good all over workout (there's certain days dedicated to upper body, lower body, abs, plyos, cardio) so it mixed it up too each day. That was helpful in not getting bored. I have heard really good things about Insanity though from the people that I know who have done it...I think for an at home workout that a lot of the Beachbody programs are pretty decent.

The only program of Shaun T.'s that I'm able to do is HipHop Abs and it did help me the first time to cut a bit of my midsection. It's not as high impact as some of his latest workouts although I would like to try his other dance workouts. I'm only waiting for my right knee to recuperate to be able to do aerobics again. It's the bane of my existence right know which is also why I couldn't start any workouts.

My neighbour has done some of the insanity stuff and I can see some changes, though they're not as big as people make it out to be. Or maybe he's not doing them properly at all.. then again he is 17 years old, so I'm not sure how much change he's supposed to be showing. I'll probably be trying the program myself if I'm convinced by my friends or this forum, so I will get back to you with some results!

I have learnt about the program and I think it is an extreme fitness program of high intensity with little rest in between. There is a great risk of injury especially from the second stage and not suitable for newbies or those with medical conditions. However, one is sure to lose weight with this program.

You can also find it on most of the Torrent websites. Insanity is a hell of a workout that will definitely exhaust you. While I do agree that it's one of the best ways to lose weight, it's definitely not for the beginners, because you actually have to have some conditioning.

What would you recommend for beginners?
