Are weight gainers necessary for bulking? Most weight gainers are crap, it says "600 cals" (which is alot) on the back, but that's with 3 scoops, and the scoops are huge. Can barely drink that myself! You're better off making your own shakes, ie; 1x Scoop ON Gold Whey = 120 cals 500ml Whole Milk = 320 cals 10x Almonds = 70 cals 1x tbsp Peanut Butter = 100 cals tot. = 610 cals.
Are weight gainers necessary for bulking? Never encourage people to not start. There is nothing to be lost by hitting the gym more often!
Are weight gainers necessary for bulking? I have a hard time limiting my cals. If I don't watch what I eat can easily go way over maintenance. I would try counting your cals for a day and writing them down here. Def agree on making your own shakes. You can do things like whey, pb, fruits, greek yogurt, oats, etc. The possibilities are endless.
Are weight gainers necessary for bulking? Also, OP, almond and peanut butter are probably my #1 recommendation here. They're delicious just out of the jar and you don't have to eat nearly as much of them. 2tbs is basically 200 calories for all varieties and it's EASY to eat 4-6 TBS in a sitting.
Are weight gainers necessary for bulking? Hey look, someone else from Ottawa. Wouldn't recommend weight gainers. Not cost effective and real food tastes better. For example, peanut butter is a much cheaper alternative for packing on cals. You'd be surprised how quickly the cals add up when you add PB to your diet.
