The government has just announced that they will be taxing Protein supplements so if that was the case I reckon they'd start bigging it up already, not just after announcing that you're going to have to pay more for it!

Theres a pic of him at the top

Seriously though, the news will print any bollocks nowadays... They even mention DMAA which has nothing to do with protein. They get one random gym goer that got some side effects (from taking 7 shakes a day which means he obviously has no idea what hes doing in the first place) and fail to mention the rest of the gym going population or experienced bodybuilders who have been consuming high amounts of protein for decades, but no, 'too much' protein is bad for you.

Haha, yyou know what I misread the name of the BDA spokesman and thought that was him. Fail on my part!! I think as always this article and advice is aimed at those people who don't train and just sit in their ****s, but they have to pad it out to fill up the web page with irrelevant content like the mention of DMAA. We all know that too much of anything is bad for you, but what this article doesn't take into account is the people that take over the recommended daily allowances but actually utilise that protein.

what a load of sh1t... His quote did make me laugh though... "I was shaking and I got angry. My girlfriend didn't want to be around me". I swear articles like this is why the general public have no bloody idea when it comes to bodybuilding or nutrition.

Its a 20% sales tax though like VAT. Just wait till they make up a new tax for it, like the tax we pay on fuel (fuel duty) or alcohol (alcohol duty tax) or cigarettes (tobacco duty). All these taxes are done pre production, eg the manufacturer pays them, and then in turn has to charge more to recoup costs. Then we as consumers pay the extra, plus any VAT on the products.
