Do you NEED protein for muscle gain? This is false. research supports that less than this is more than sufficient for gaining lean body mass in a caloric surplus. If cutting and trying to perserve muscle; however, it is much more advisable to have at least 1g protein/lb of BW. OP, I'd say you would be sufficient getting about 140g a day. Less may still very well be sufficient, but this is a safe minimum to shoot for.
