      Hi guys. I'd really appreciate one of checking my log in my sig as you guys really know your stuff. A. Guy in my log is trying to tell me about nutrition. And it goes against what I have learnt from you guys and these forums and well to be honest I disagree with it. You guys are a lot more well versed than me and would appreciate one of you checking my log if you can to see if I'm right as you guys know your stuff!

      Thanks in advance!

      Thank you pug this is what I thought. And yes I no I am guilty as charged for having an acutely hypocaloric diet (which we be fixed now) you have my word pug sir!

      Tdee is 2500
      The rest of my cut will now be
      2100 cals
      150g protein
      190g carbs
      80g fat

      Does that seem better pug?

      Increase protein, lower carbs.

      IMO you should aim for 1.2-1.5g protein per pound of bodyweight.

      Why?

      Can you cite any studies that show any long-term benefits to muscularity, muscle development and/or muscle preservation correlated to intake above 2.2 grams (1 gram) per pound of bodyweight?

      By the way, if the OP wants to get a good sense of the current research on the topic, I suggest reading: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2129150/

      FYI: Unless you're using "special supplements", there is no research-based justification for unique benefits such high protein intake.

      IMO = In my opinion.

      They are not 'rules' they are my 'recommendations' in which i find to be most beneficial, you are talking about 'minimal requirements'. I have been on 1g/lb for a long time in the past but then increased it to 1.2-1.5/lb and found it to be far superior and more beneficial. Same with my clients, not only until i increased there protein intake from 0.8/lb at the time to 1.2-1.5 did they really start to notice an increase in muscle gains, there calorie surplus was still the same, 500+

      Sorry, but personal anecdotes don't trump scientific, scholarly publications.
